Arts-related Projects
Art-related Projects and Exhibition Work: Much of our work is art-related. See some of the best examples here.
This is a large and varied section and encompasses work done for clients in the Arts sectors and research/exhibition work.
The Scottish Artists Union
open|box|design were commissioned to produce the SAU website (www.sau.org.uk). The website itself is a clean and fresh approach to design which highlights the concept of working and professional artists without being overtly specific to one particular discipline or artist - it's all about the doing! Information in the site is easy to obtain and is easy to update via the SAU staff who can do so using a simple web-enabled database. The site is also linked to a mailing services so members get current news through their email.
Creative Cultures Scotland
Creative Cultures (Scotland) is a web portal for the creative industries in Scotland (www.creativeculturescotland.co.uk). open|box|design were asked to create the design of the site to work within a Content Management System. The design has been created to work with the imagery present - the colour scheme working perfectly depending on the rnadomly picked image at the top. We also produced a very intricate three dimensional card which is given out at networking eventsheld throughout the year.
The Academy of Fictional Possibility
The Academy was a research-based project created by the artist Chris Biddlecombe and Sunil Vishin. The project is a flash-based site and focuses on a very unusual Art-based academy... but how real is it? The project itself is about to be resurrected, so watch this space.
Connectivity
Connectivity was a group of artsist/researchers from around the world organised by Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen. The project itself was based around the concept of 'a sense of place' using the new techniques of rapid prototyping to realise the artwork. The site is now offline, but was used to show the proceses and discussions the artist went through during the project.
COAST
The coast festival (www.coastfestival.org.uk) is an weekend of arts-related events held annually in the Banffshire area of the North East of Scotland. The festival is now in the second year - last year's being open by the local and now international singer Sandii Thom. open|box|design were commissioned to create the identity for the festival, which can be seen here and on the coast website. The identity is used throughout the festival on everything from brochures to banners and signage. The next festival is held at the end of May - do go and visit!
Traces of Conflict
Traces of Conflict was an exhibition held at the Imperial War Museum in London in 2002. The exhibition focused on the responses of four internationally recognised artists who had experienced the Falklands either during the war, after, or through family ties with the area. open|box|design was commissioned to produce the hard-backed bound book that accompanied the exhibition as well as banners and invitations for the event.
